June 24, 2006 v2:
Second annual ride highlights - another successful ride.

HIGHLIGHTS
The forecast called for heavy thunderstorms, lightning, flash floods and all out nasty weather. "We ride rain or shine" - and luckily we had an awesome day except for some torrential downpours near the end. But for the most part we were shaded by clouds and enjoyed a slight tailwind.

We had 21 riders and an awesome support staff. All our thanks to the volunteers- you made the day go as smooth as could be expected.

Overall we kept a great pace and improved over last year- a few of us came in at a 21 mph average over the course of 205+ miles. Total ride time about 9:43.

QUOTES: the ones we remember

“Olwen, did you bring my pedals?”
- prepared to ride?

"Do we HAVE to stop for lunch?"
- pre-ride questions

"Where's the start line?"
- as we rolled out

“Does anyone know how to get a nail out of a tire?”
- it looked more like a railroad spike to me

"200.. the new 100"
- only new after the first 100

"He doesn't have any gears left."
- good thing it was a flat ride

"Booyah, bitch"
- exclaimed after fixing a flat in the SAG vehicle, followed by a faux 'psssssssssttt' by the driver. Not the least bit funny.

"Check out the horse taking a dump"
- free entertainment

"OK let's wait up for him..." {thunder and lightning} "...well, he's a big boy, he knows how to get home."
- ride strategy

As Lawrence rubbed his left butt cheek,
"what hand signal is that?"

"what did the dryer say to the washer?.. want to go for a spin?"
- reading riddles on the Pringles while waiting out the lightning..

"I think you stepped in a pee puddle"..
- trying to figure out how Brent's shoe got wet.

"Now this issss heaven, ahhhhh." after about 4 minutes she says, "ok who wants it next?"
- no one answers

At mile 180 pit stop, Wayne (support crew) says loud enough so a couple walking into the gas station can hear..
"Well, we better get going soon if we want to make it to New York by tonight!"

As Wayne flipped over Andrea's bike, water came pouring out.
"Where did all this water come from?"
"I think it's Chad's pee"

"I don't know what I want more, a beer or a milkshake."
- dreaming

"Unfortunately my shots of people actually riding didn't come out well. From these it looks like we had a big picnic and everyone wore their bike gear."
- we know pictures don't always tell the whole truth
